May has been full in the best way. 🌸 We celebrated Oliver's Confirmation — such a meaningful milestone for our family. Charlotte is putting the finishing touches on her 4-H project (she's been very secretive, so stay tuned 👀). And Luke? He is flying on his foot-pedaled trike like he's got somewhere very important to be. 🚲😄

Grateful doesn't even cover it. What a month. ☀️

We did a nice project of cordless honeycomb shades for a church last week. Replacing broken blinds, ill-fitting curtains, and tired vertical blinds. My favorite part was taking the mis-matched look from the outside to all the same!

We even installed one through a wall... though Joe told me to not do that again. 😁

Let's talk about motorization for a second! 🤖
I know it sounds fancy (and maybe unnecessary?), but here's when motorized window treatments actually make sense:

Hard-to-reach windows (skylights, high windows, above stairs)
Heavy treatments that are annoying to operate manually
You want to program them to open/close automatically (wake up to natural light!)
Smart home integration (control from your phone)
Child safety (no cords at all)

It's definitely not for everyone or every window - but when it's the right solution, people LOVE it.
The most common thing I hear? "I wish I'd done this sooner!"

Here's the typical timeline:
📅 Consultation & measuring: 1 hour at your home
📅 Quote approval: Usually same day or next day
📅 Deposit to start production (required for orders over $5,000)
📅 Manufacturing: 2-4 weeks (custom takes time!)
📅 Installation: 1-3 hours depending on number of windows
📅 Final payment at completion

So from 'yes, let's do this!' to 'wow, my windows look amazing!' you're looking at about 3-6 weeks total.

I've been thinking a lot about bedroom window treatments lately. Your bedroom should be YOUR sanctuary - the one room that's exactly how you want it.

Some people want total blackout for the best sleep. Others love waking up to natural light. Some need both depending on the day!
That's why I love cellular shades with a blackout liner - you get light filtering when you want it, total darkness when you need it. Plus they're great for temperature control, which matters more than people think!
