Not every cabinet shop builds the same way. And most homeowners do not find that out until the project is already underway.
These are the five questions worth asking before you commit to anyone.

1. Do you build in house or outsource production? In house build means direct control over quality at every stage. Outsourced production means you are trusting a process you cannot see.

2. What are your drawer boxes made from? Solid wood drawer boxes are a sign of a shop that builds to a standard. Anything less is a place where shortcuts start.

3. How do you handle tolerances during the build? Tight tolerances are what separate cabinetry that fits precisely from cabinetry that almost fits. Ask for specifics.

4. Can I see examples of your inset work? Inset cabinetry is one of the most demanding builds a shop can do. If they do it well, they build well across the board.

5. What does your process look like start to finish? A calm, considered process with clear steps and open communication is the sign of a shop that has done this before and done it right.

Stock vanities are built to fit a price point. The dimensions are close but rarely exact, which means filler pieces, visible gaps, and hardware that was never meant to last. It looks fine on day one. A few years in, the difference shows.
