Completed a large-scale Fiber Optic Spool Demolition and Material Separation project.

Scope of work included deconstructing 200+ industrial wooden fiber optic spools inside a warehouse environment. Each unit was fully broken down by removing steel rods, plates, and internal hardware using drills, wrenches, and hand tools.

Many of the bolts were welded and/or heavily rusted, requiring cutting with a grinder to fully separate components. All wood was collapsed into manageable piles and loaded into designated dumpsters.

Materials were separated and organized as follows:
• Wood → dumpsters
• Metal/steel → recycling bins
• Miscellaneous debris → separate containers

This was a high-volume, labor-intensive job that required consistency, efficiency, and problem-solving to complete at scale.

✅ Job Done — External Chimney Flue Replacement

A storm took out a client's external chimney flue. They called Grit & Grain Renovations. We handled it.

Sourced the most affordable materials through Lowe's, ordered everything, and completed the full replacement the day the order arrived.

Scope of work:
• Removed the damaged boot
• Installed new boot
• Installed flue connector
• Installed stack and vent
• Secured with self-sealing roofing screws
• Sealed with external roofing sealant

"Had to pull the old boot, beat it back into shape with a hammer, then rebuild the whole system from scratch."

One day. Done right.

Total: $1,000

$550 in materials cost, and $450 in labor.

Finished up Stage 1 on a set of horse stalls and I’m proud of how this one turned out.

This wasn’t just about putting boards together — this was about building something solid, level, and built to last in a working barn environment. Every post set right, every cut clean, everything aligned the way it should be.

In this kind of setting, durability and safety matter. Animals don’t care about shortcuts — and neither do I.

Clear communication, showing up on time, and doing the job right the first time — that’s the standard I hold myself to on every project.

We’ll be moving into Stage 2 soon to finish these out with screened-in windows and final touches.

On behalf of contractors everywhere:

Please take the time to think through your project—and your budget—before reaching out to a contractor.

If you have something in mind, do a little research first. Understand the general cost range so you know what you’re stepping into.

Time, travel, and estimates all cost money. In many cases, even receiving a lead costs the contractor money before they ever meet you.

To give some perspective:
A large deck (around 50x50) can cost roughly $75,000+ with pressure-treated materials and $200,000+ with composite, depending on design and features.

If that’s not within your budget, that’s completely okay—but it’s better to know that upfront before scheduling estimates.

Respecting that process helps both you and the contractor avoid wasted time and unnecessary costs.

Clear expectations lead to better results for everyone.

New Construction Attic Ladder Installation

Estimate/Cost: $400

Job Description:
After acquiring all necessary materials, I carefully identified and marked the optimal location in the ceiling for the attic ladder installation.

Without direct visibility into the attic space, I began by cutting a small inspection opening to accurately locate the rafters and ensure proper placement.

Once confirmed, I measured and positioned the attic ladder between the rafters, then cut the sheetrock to create a precise opening. The ladder was properly fitted into the ceiling and prepared for installation.

I installed temporary support braces and added additional framing as needed to securely support the unit. The attic ladder was set into place, leveled, and anchored using bolts, with shims applied to ensure a tight and stable fit.

After removing the support braces, I verified smooth operation of the ladder, adjusted and cut the legs for proper ground contact, and installed the protective feet.

To complete the project, I installed trim around the attic opening to provide a clean, finished appearance.

The installation was completed with full functionality, structural integrity, and attention to detail.

The client was highly satisfied with the final result and overall quality of the work.

We handled a full office furniture setup to help get their new workspace ready for business. This project included:

• Assembly of 16 rolling office chairs
• Assembly of 8 small office desks
• Assembly of 8 office lobby chairs
• Assembly of 2 large L-shaped executive desks
• Assembly of 1 large conference table
• Assembly of 1 corner bookshelf unit
• Mounting 8 whiteboards throughout the office
• Room placement and final setup of all furniture

Price: $1,000
