Our main office is located in Jane Lew, West Virginia, just off I-79, in our beautiful 4,100 square-foot model log home. Today, having produced and delivered more than 1,500 log home packages, Mountain State Log Homes, Inc. continues to enhance its reputation for excellence in design, materials, and service. Our model home and mill are closed today as we take the day to recognize the hard work and dedication of the people who keep things moving every day.

We especially want to wish our employees, contractors, customers, and their families a safe and enjoyable Labor Day. We appreciate each of you and hope you get a chance to relax and enjoy the day!

Not all dovetail corners are created the same. 🪵

One of the details we’re especially proud of at Mountain State Log Homes is our unique interlocking dovetail corner system.

The way our dovetails are cut allows the logs to lock tightly together at the corners, creating the classic dovetail appearance while providing an exceptionally tight fit. It’s a design we’ve used and refined through decades of working with log homes.

And while the finished corner looks great, the real beauty is in the precision of the fit.

Two pavilions. Two completely different uses. One delivery headed to Morgantown tomorrow!

One of these pavilions will be installed over a pool, creating a covered spot for shade, relaxing, and getting out of the sun without leaving the pool area.

The second will be connected directly to the home, adding covered outdoor living space that can be enjoyed for everything from morning coffee to family cookouts.

It’s a great example of just how versatile a pavilion can be. They don’t all have to stand alone in the backyard—the right design can become a natural extension of the way you use your property.

“Why should I spend that much on stain when I can buy something cheaper?”

We understand this question. When you’re looking at several gallons of stain, the difference in price can add up quickly.

But with a log home, the cheapest product on the shelf isn’t always the least expensive choice in the long run.

Logs expand and contract as temperatures and moisture levels change. Sashco products are specifically formulated for log and timber homes.

🪵 For example, Capture Log Stain is designed to move with the wood rather than crack or peel, while helping protect against moisture and UV damage. When used with Cascade Clear Coat, future maintenance can often mean refreshing the protective clear coat where needed instead of stripping everything back to bare wood and starting over.

And that’s where the real savings can come in.

The cost of stain is only one part of a staining job. Cleaning, stripping, sanding, labor, equipment and repairs can become far more expensive than the difference between a quality product and a cheaper one. Proper maintenance helps you avoid getting to the point where you’re paying to take the home all the way back to bare wood.

And there goes the last one! 🏡

Our final pre-built tiny cabin is loaded up and heading to its new home.

We’ve enjoyed watching these little cabins leave our lot over the years and head off to become hunting camps, weekend getaways, and special places for their new owners to enjoy.

We are no longer building our pre-built tiny cabins, so seeing the last one pull out is definitely a moment worth sharing.

A big thank you to our customer for choosing Mountain State Log Homes. We wish you many happy years and plenty of good memories in your new cabin!
