Feeling incredibly honored (and surprised!) to receive the 2025 AIA Kentucky Distinguished Service Award. I’m grateful to my peers, collaborators and clients who continue to support me in my work and collective AIA initiatives.

This recognition means a lot - but awards aren’t what drive me. To celebrate in my own way, I’m delivering design-related children’s books to Little Free Libraries all around our community - hoping to spark creativity and curiosity in the next generation of architects and designers.

The Women in Design panel hosted by Construction Specifications Institute Louisville, KY, was such a great event last year and an opportunity to reflect on a wide range of career paths and experiences in the design industry. I'm looking forward to listening and learning more from this year's panelists.

This is my “why” at work - I love to see my clients thriving in their new space and their business partners celebrating their accomplishment. Congratulations to Kentucky ElderLaw, PLLC on the grand opening of their new office! Relocating and doubling the size of your footprint is no small task and I enjoyed helping them navigate design decisions along the way.

It was an honor to present the 2024 AIA Kentucky Special Awards for Excellence in Service to the Profession last night at the University of Kentucky College of Design. I appreciated the opportunity to celebrate the individuals, firms and design projects that have enhanced communities throughout Kentucky.

A huge thank you to Kelly Ives and Casey Satterly for all their efforts to organize this event, Ben Barlage for sharing the stage with me to present this year's design awards, and the entire Special Awards Committee (Brittany Leneave, David Marchal, AIA, Mark Powell and Daniel Ware) for their thoughtful consideration of this year's nominations.

Don't miss this fun, unique way to see the Playground Abode space in action! Miranda Construction participated in their summer Lego Camp recently with a Built by Kids episode. We love to see kids in our community enjoying this space! Rob jumping into the ball pit is pretty enjoyable, too.

Behind the Scenes / / At Saltbox Studio, we have an in-house quality control team who puts all flooring samples through rigorous testing. The testing process usually ends with a demand for goldfish and fruit snacks.

Playground Abode is opening in Plainview next week! I invite you to go meet the incredible owner and entrepreneur, Kristen O'Meally, and check out this fun indoor play space for kids ages 1-8. From the very start, Kristen had a clear vision and intent for this space. I'm grateful that I was able to help navigate the design process and work with Miranda Construction to bring the concept to life!

It’s Kentucky Derby day in Louisville! I have never made a fascinator myself until this week but with such a fun project finish palette, I was inspired to give it a go this year and create one that celebrates the Playground Abode brand.

As for the project itself, it’s heading down the final stretch. Stay tuned for the photo finish!

This project would only be a white box without the layers of branding and fun storytelling that has woven into the design of the space. My bet is that you will love it!

We are noticing signs of spring at Playground Abode, coming soon to Plainview. Miranda Construction is hard at work behind these new facade openings.

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, fun aunt or uncle, or a kid at heart, be sure to follow Playground Abode now for sneak peeks of construction progress and exciting updates about all the fun you will find inside this space.

Collaboration has been in full gear, in our 3D model and on the construction site. We can’t wait to share more of the design story once the project is complete.

The last few months have flown by but this tenant fit out project from November was fun to see completed on a short timeline. It’s possible when everyone communicates well and works together. We wish Houchens Insurance Group the best in their new office space in the VSoft Corporation building!
