This has gotta be one of the coolest Kalamazoo shower remodels we’ve ever done (see the “before” pics in the comments) 🛁 😎 💦

The cast iron tub is literally sunk down into the floor, supported underneath to save space & give this a “step down” feel into the shower to accommodate the dormer up above.

Another fun fact - this property was originally built & operated as a church here in Kalamazoo from the 1920s through the 1950s, where it was then converted into a home 😮 ✝️⛪️

Last fall, we installed this brick 🧱 patio for a client, leveling off and compacting the sand underneath, giving it the slightest pitch so that it keeps water from pooling up.

Using a composite interlocking sand (similar to grout for tiles), we were able to secure the entirety of the patio in place, preventing shifting, w**d growth, and cracking for many years to come 🌈

The result? A patio that stays fresh, for years and years of coffee sipping, wine tasting, and entertaining.

🗣️ An initial consultation revealed that this client wanted to eliminate the old cast iron tub in her bathroom, strip the tiles from the walls, and go with a 5’ shower pan, subway tile, and a glass sliding shower door.

Some of the “must haves” on her wishlist were an upgraded bathroom fan (on its own separate switch), a shaving ledge inside the shower surround, and a large rectangular niche for soaps, shampoos, etc.

We then met at Lowe’s to pick out tile, fixtures, and the finishes. From there, our crew got to work with the demolition, the rebuild, waterproofing, and now - tiling!

This ‘mid-progress’ post sheds a little light 💡 on how our process goes - capture the ideas, keep communication clear, and deliver stunning results.
