Here is a great tip!
If you have a finished wood product (stained wood door, trim, lockers, shelves, etc) that has an aged, fading, and scratched surface; below are some tips for bringing life back to it!
We generally advocate for stripping the surface and refinishing wood whenever possible as you will get a great and long lasting product. That said, it can be expensive and isn’t always financially the right choice.
In the case of this project, the client had nearly 300 wood lockers that are heavily used. The face of each locker is in pretty rough shape but refinishing didn’t make sense for the budget as these are slated to be repaired and replaced at a later date.
To restore the finish and revitalize the appearance here’s some steps you can take.
1️⃣ Clean the surface thoroughly. You don’t want dust or debris on the material for the next steps.
2️⃣ Use Howard Restore-A-Finish in the color that is the closest match/color-tone as what you’re working with.
3️⃣ Using a stain pad, wipe on the coating making sure to work it into the material without leaving excess liquid.
4️⃣ Enjoy!
What this is:
✔️A great affordabile solution
✔️Will blend and hide minor blemishes
✔️Fast
What this is not:
❌ Good for excessively damaged surfaces
❌ permanent solution to a damaged finish
