I’ve seen a lot of people asking whether the People’s Artist Challenge is a scam. So far, my experience says no.
A scam usually asks for money while offering little or nothing in return. In this case, artists receive exposure, voting opportunities, and a chance to connect with a wider audience. Whether the competition format is perfect is a separate discussion, but that alone doesn’t make it a scam.
It’s fair to ask questions, be skeptical, and look closely at how any competition operates. But it’s also important not to label something a scam simply because it uses public voting, fundraising, or a competitive structure we may not personally like.
Artists should do their own research and decide if it’s worth their time. For me, the challenge has been a positive experience, and I haven’t seen evidence that it deserves the “scam” label.
