Customer called called wanting to remove the shelf, and replace the old vinyl flooring, base, and quarter round.
Customer was pretty pleased on how quickly her laundry room changed. We also gave her a screw gun, and a little guidance, and she replaced her own garage door handle, and hinges, which she was pretty pleased with herself about. I helped her out by adjusting her striker plate, so her door shut tighter.

Customer called me after contacting several companies wanting to remove the aluminum wrapping from the cedar post, and windows and to update it all. After no response from any of them, he finally contacted Arkham Construction! Not knowing what was behind the wrapping is what probably scared everyone off. I gave the customer a no issues bid, and told them that we would revisit the cost once everything was exposed, and we knew what we were dealing with, and unfortunately did we have some issues...

Once the wrapping was off, I found several places where sills, bottom plates, and jack studs were rotting out. We removed all the lower windows, replacing what needed to be, adding new sills out of PVC. One bottom plate had rotten so bad, I had to literally jack up the exterior wall to correctly replace the plate. I then cut the upper the windows sills off, also adding a new PVC sill with vinyl window tape and tyvec underneath. On top of the tyvec, is 5/4 cedar planks. All the brickmold was replaced with cedar 2x. The post were secured if needed, and then wrapped with 1x6 and 1x4 smart board. The brick side was a bit trickier due to brick not being flat, but I was able to get a decent fit on most. Above the front entry, I removed cedar shakes, and replaced with 5/4 cedar, with tyvec underneath.

Overall, it was a fun project, that turned out really good, in my opinion, and definitely changes the curb appeal of this home! Customer was very pleased with the transformation, and the final bill.

Customer called needing access off of their deck. They had just purchased a lovely home, with a massive deck, but no way off without going back through the house. Now, this may mainly get used more by their four legged friends, but it's definitely saving this homeowner several steps to let them out.

The exit point was on a decent slope, so it took quite a bit of concrete to get it level. For this honestly being my 2nd piece of concrete that I've poured, the first being for my son's Eagle project, it turned out really nice. We put 3 peirs 8" wide and about 12" deep to help hold it in place in case it wanted to slide. Also added rebar to help hold the 8" or more of concrete in the back. Might of been overkill, but better safe than sorry.

Issue 2 wasn't discovered until the jacks were being measured out. The deck ended up being about 2" out of level. The previous owner, who I think built the home, had caged off a large portion of the covered deck for cats. There was a water spigot right outside the kitchen door too. We came to the conclusion that the slope was for drainage when sprayed down. Which was fine for that, but that made the top step 3/4" out. Which eventually, the homeowners want to screen in this same area.

Stairs turned out great otherwise. Both the stairs and risers are cedar. The jacks are treated, but one side was very brown and rustic looking, so that was the side I chose to show. I added a 6x6 post up top for the future railing and screening too.

Needless to say, customer was pretty happy to have another, and easier way outside. Planning another set to the back driveway in the future.

Customer called last week. They had an office space in their basement, but it was missing a closet space. Luckily there was a closet behind the room that could be accessed.

The only issue was an outlet right in the way. Once the door hole was cut out, an electrician was called out, and wires were rerouted. I returned the next day and completed the job. Customer was very satisfied with their addition!

Customer also had some water damaged baseboard and shoe. I removed the base, and found the sheet rock crumbling, and molded from the water. Customer found and fixed the issue, but the mold had crept up the wall a little. I recut new base and shoe, and left it loose so the infected sheet rock could be replaced.

I also replaced a few pieces of shoe upstairs that they previous "carpenters" had lazily avoided tackling at transition spots.

The painter is coming next to finish everything up, so this couple move on to their next chapter.

Replace your doors before winter comes..
Arkham Construction LLC 816-935-7864

Customer called last week needing to replace their two leaky exterior doors and to replace their old storm door.
Once the door was out, I found some old rot. I opened up the front of the house, replaced and insulated what was needed. I was even able to relocate their doorbell that was originally mounted on the door frame. Caulked everything up, good as new!!
Customer was very excited about not needing to kick the door anymore, lol.

Customer called wanting to replace some homemade "stairs" coming off a deck that they inherited. The deck itself will be replaced in the next year or so, but this is was much needed improvement for the time being. I screwed everything in so it can be easily removed, and put right back in when that time comes. Customer was very pleased!

Give me a call if you'd like to update your deck. Chris Maag 816-935-7864

**Please note, the sidewalk is way out of level, the steps are level. That can also be easily rectified, should the sidewalk get raised back up.

People of Parkville, and surrounding cities, can you relate? 816-935-7864

Customer called, said they've had the same fridge for 30 yrs, and have replaced the ice maker at least 4 times. Their issue was, their cabinet was built around that particular fridge, several years ago, and they've wanted a much bigger one for many years.

I was able to go in, remove the side, giving them more width, but we also went up 6", to give them 6'. I was also able to shorten the doors, and gave them a solid bottom, using the discarded side, instead of the 2 1x12s that were in there. Customer was extremely satisfied and can't wait for her new fridge on Thursday!

Customer called today with concerns of their new fridge fitting through a couple openings going into the kitchen. Stay tuned for further updates...

Homes built in the 60's, 70's could you benefit from this? Give me a call!

This home was built in the 60's. The customer really liked their wooden doors, but the weather stripping was non existent, the threshold and door sweep were deteriorating, and it had absolutely no insulation around the frame, along with the door k**b not latching anymore. Leaving the existenting brick mold, I came in carefully removing the indoor casing and then removed the jamb. I customized a new frame, addimg grooves in the door for a new, non nailed door sweep, and insulated the frame. The last picture, the door originally swung the other way, forcing you into a wall, and an awkward turn. Along with possiblly slamming the door into the refrigerator. Customer wanted to reverse this, making it more functional.
Both doors are functioning well, plumb and insulated. Customer was very happy!
