We have been in the process of slowly
re-landscaping our front yard. Attempting to create a forest with a woodland walk. So far we have a mix of Betula utilis var. jacquemontii (Himalayan birch) and Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Pendula' (Weeping Nootka Cypress). There are existing landscape plants that we will relocate and eventually add in plants that have a woodland natural appeal.

The Thistle & Sea Cottage landscaping will hopefully capture a theme and feel of where the woodland forest meets the coast. Pictured her is a development in progress. We surrounded a portion of the backyard with a ‘Higgity Piggity’ fence that will compliment a tiny (future cottage) and now developing flower garden. The fence is to keep our curious pugs in their own play area. The future tiny cottage will be extremely whimsical and the focal point (folly) for the backyard. The cottage garden is newly planted and filling in well. It is becoming quite abuzz with life.

Our Rosegarden suffered a mishap early in the summer and we lost quite a few roses. Luckily parts of the Rosegarden are coming back. Pictured here in the foreground is David Austin’s Claire Rose and in the background is The Fawn Rose.

Our rose garden will have boxwood lined pathways with a circular area surrounding a wishing well as the garden centerpiece. We have close to 100 boxwood to plant - so to help with the digging we purchased a hole digger. It will also be handy when we install the new fence around the property. I was able to get 21 boxwood planted in one day 😅 78 to go 😳
