Deck Rescue: Steel Posts, Glulam Beams & a Full Beam Splice
When a deck beam needs replacing on a steep slope, you can't just tear it out β you need a plan. In this video, we walk through the full beam swap process: temporarily supporting the structure, cutting out the old beam, and installing custom glulam beams matched to the existing ones on the house.
We also cover splicing at the steel posts, cutting bracket tops, bringing in welders for new brackets, and dropping new posts at the splice points β all while working off a safe platform with fall harnesses tied back to the house.
If you're a contractor, builder, or homeowner dealing with a similar deck repair, this breakdown will help you understand the process from start to finish. Subscribe to follow the full Deck Rehab series!
