So, folks ask why prices are the way that they are and why some of them are due to take an increase. I’m not here to join the business gripe soap boxes going around everywhere but hopefully this will assist with some understanding.
A lot of folks just don’t have an understanding that a legitimate company has a lot more overhead than just showing up to run a mower. In our current business structures here’s what you’re paying for:
Experience - over 20 years of personal experience in lawn care and landscape and 15 years of maintenance and handyman projects.
Insurance - yes - we are fully insured. That means you can rest at ease knowing if anything happens to your property, your home, our crew, your family, its all covered. We’ve got your back. Let’s not forget the vehicle insurance and equipment insurance as well.
Equipment - we have blowers $500-650 each, trimmers $400+ each, push mower $500+ each, a zero turn $2800 used (new ones run 7-15k), edger $200, trailer $1500, trailer racks $80-$150 per rack, garden rakes, spade and flat shovels, leaf rakes, w**ding tools, wrenches, sockets and other tools to keep things running, weekly purchases such as contractor bags, gloves, w**d killers, seed, fertilizers etc. backpack sprayers $80-$200 each.
Repairs - things are used, things break down, things need replaced. In the last month we’ve had to purchase a new blower, have $850 in trailer repairs, a trimmer that is currently in the shop being looked at, regular tune ups, blade changes and sharpening. Not to mention vehicle maintenance like $100+ oil changes, air filters, flushes, brakes etc just to be able to haul what is there to do the job.
Payroll - well, I’m not putting exact figures out here for that but that’s another weekly expense that varies based on the hours and crew member amount.
Nourishment - crews have to drink and stay nourished. There’s water, there’s electrolytes, there’s snacks. Crews have to stay healthy and fueled in order to keep your properties looking top notch.
Speaking of fuel - here’s the photo of the fill up today. Mower, gas can, vehicle. How many lawns or jobs do you suppose it takes to cover a gas bill like this every other day?
When we charge it’s not because we’re trying to get rich or go open a shack in the beach. It’s to ensure your property is top notch and to cover what it takes to get it that way.
Just an encouragement - the next time your service provider gives you an estimate, explains the process and what’s involved and breaks it all down for you, please refrain from haggling prices, being rude in responding or flat out being mean. We’re all out here trying our best to make your lawn, landscape and home be the best it can be and also our food on our tables too.
Have a great Friday and we look forward to continuing to serve you.
