What a great accomplishment for Sprigg Lynn.
His parents were some of the best in the flooring supply business, what was once called Cherokee Flooring. Lynn is one heck of a craftsman that I would like to say that has both old school knowledge and combined with today advance installation and finish process of wood flooring knowledge. If you're in the DMV area and looking for top quality craftsmanship for both high end work and restoration work, Universal Floors is your company. You just can't put a price on the quality of work these guys do. Many years ago I work with some of these guys back in the eighties under Nash flooring and a few other flooring companies. It was great to see him get recognized for his work of excellence.

Another bathroom renovation is almost wrapped up, and this one took a little different direction.

We went with a natural stone shower floor paired with a solid 12x24 porcelain tile that gives the shower that clean, concrete-finish look. For the center accent, we used the same color but switched to a fluted, corduroy style tile to add some texture and break things up.

The main floor is also getting Ditra-Heat, so nobody has to step onto an ice-cold floor on a winter morning. Nothing like having warm feet while you're trying to wake up!

The vanity should be coming in next week, and then we'll put the finishing touches on this bathroom and call it done.

I have to admit, I'm really liking this sleek, modern industrial look. Simple, clean, and just enough texture to keep it from feeling boring.

Another one almost off the list!

Things Are Heating Up! 🔥

Things are getting a little hot around here with the Ditra-Heat installation by Schluter or Mapei! We're waiting on the tile to arrive, so I'm moving on to another part of this project—the kitchen we recently completed.

The kitchen is really starting to come together, with the homeowner now getting everything organized and placed in the cabinets.

✅ Hardwood flooring

It's always nice to see a kitchen go from a construction zone to a space that actually feels like home.

We're not quite finished with the project yet, so more photos are coming once the homeowner gets the furniture and everything else in place. That's when we'll really get to show off the finished transformation!

In the meantime, I'll try to stay out of the heat and let her put her finishing touches.

Many homeowners don't realize that certain cleaning products can permanently stain, discolor, or damage tile surfaces. Green tile can be particularly sensitive because many ceramic green tiles get their color from copper compounds used in the glazing process.

Copper-based glazes can react to harsh chemicals, acidic cleaners, bleach, ammonia, vinegar, and some heavy-duty degreasers. These reactions can leave behind stains, discoloration, dull spots, or permanent damage to the tile's finish. What starts as a simple cleaning project can quickly turn into a costly repair.

Natural green stone tiles such as marble, serpentine, and other stone products can also be damaged by improper cleaners.(Not limited to green tiles only) Acidic products may etch the surface, remove the shine, and alter the appearance of the stone.

To help protect your tile investment:

• Use only pH-neutral cleaners specifically designed for tile and grout.
• Avoid vinegar, bleach, acidic cleaners, and abrasive scrubbing pads.
• Always test a new cleaner in an inconspicuous area first.
• Follow the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations whenever possible.

If your green tile has developed staining, discoloration, cloudy areas, or surface damage after cleaning, a chemical reaction may have occurred between the cleaner and the tile's finish. The total interior renovation of this home is almost complete, bringing another transformation project to a successful finish.

We wanted to share a few additional photos showcasing the progress, including the newly installed stone fireplace and hearth. The custom mantle is currently being installed and will add the finishing touch to this beautiful living space.

This project included interior remodeling, hardwood flooring installation and refinishing, trim work, painting, kitchen improvements, bathroom renovations, lighting upgrades, and custom finish work designed to transform the home while maintaining its character.

A transformation is well underway, and I wanted to give A transformation in progress, final results coming soon. Weaving some solid white oak hardwood flooring, sanded and finished the floors. Installing new baseboards, window and door casing, painting, repairing some Anderson casement windows, bathroom remodeling, kitchen renovation, recessed lights, hanging pendant lights, can't wait for the final results on this project. Love it when a client gives me a blank canvas and with her vision we bring everything together to bring her vision to life. a little progress update on this interior renovation project.

So far, we have repaired and woven new solid white oak hardwood flooring into the existing floors, then sanded and finished everything to create a seamless look. One bathroom is now complete, and we are continuing to make great progress throughout the home.

Current work includes installing new baseboards, window and door casing, painting, repairing Andersen casement windows, bathroom remodeling, kitchen renovations, recessed lighting, and hanging new pendant lights.

Projects like this are always exciting because every phase brings the homeowner's vision closer to reality. I love it when a client gives me a blank canvas and trusts us to help bring their ideas to life. Working together to transform a home and see everything come together is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
