two things of importance to you (in case you are not yet aware):

1. we are currently in transition over here and this page will soon no longer get updates.

if you want to stay connected to this work, please follow Ardea Land Project and Alexander Meander moving forward.

2. this page coming to an end is a matter of streamlining and organizing our work here.

the nursery itself remains a thriving, pulsing force of the land here and we welcome your support however that looks, whether buying plants or spreading the word.

early ordering went live about a month ago. see 👇 for details.

i suspect one more update of this sort in the next two weeks before calling the transition final.

ordering for the 2025-26 bare root season is now live!

(note: cross-posting from my personal page, as i transition away from using this one)

the American hazelnut shrub pictured here is a recent addition to the seed selection pool at Ardea Land Project.

this shrub is one of several that we collect seed from to grow shrubs for the nursery, and we offer fresh seed once we have enough to meet our propagation needs.

this particular shrub got my attention last year, when they produced a few heavy clusters of nuts. and this year, bowing the branches, they have affirmed what was whispered to me last Summer.

the nursery went live for the 2025-26 bare root season a couple days ago. you can find out more 👇

hello everyone.

hummingbird moths are delighting in the bee balm and blueberries are ripening.

the forest at night is a torrent of katydid voices. it is hot.

i come sharing a few recent images of life, and to give you a couple big updates.

1. i have recently been chipping away at updating the nursery's online inventory for the coming 2025-26 bare root season. i am almost done!

as most of you know, the nursery generally begins taking orders in August. this year we will begin to take orders in July (aka very soon). this includes most of the inventory, with the exception of seed. a more in-depth post and newsletter is forthcoming.

2. i (Alex) will no longer be operating a facebook business page for Feralwood Nursery in the near future. soon most Feralwood-related posting will take place on the Ardea Land Project page. i recommend migrating there if you want Feralwood updates via this platform.

i soon expect to become active on substack (and perhaps my personal page) where i will share more eco-mytho-poetic musings. a more in-depth post is forthcoming on this as well.

my god. what a quickening is pushing through these bodies of land at this time.

and how my body of flesh travels with it as best i can. it summons a sort anxiety, though not the sort that becomes incoherent.

many seeds are being wrapped in the rich earth.

Siberian C peach and local feral quince germination began yesterday.

as these births take place, trees have begun moving out of dormancy.

i am in awe at this world. i have to remind myself of that.

and this is the last week we will be shipping bare root trees. the remaining stock is heavily discounted 👀 👇
