In September, Zach began experiencing symptoms that led to every family’s worst fear. What started as a medical emergency quickly turned into a life-changing diagnosis. After spending four days in the Neuro ICU and undergoing extensive testing, Zach was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease, a rare progressive cerebrovascular disorder that causes the arteries in the brain to narrow, reducing blood flow and increasing the risk of stroke. Zach is only 32 years old. He is a devoted husband to Lori, his partner of 12 years, and an incredible father to their three children: Cameron, age 9, Chase, age 5, and Riley, age 3. His family is his entire world.
In June, Zach will travel to California for a complex brain bypass surgery that will help restore proper blood flow to his brain and reduce the risk of future strokes. This surgery offers hope, but it also comes with a significant financial burden. Zach and Lori will need to remain in California for approximately three weeks for surgery, recovery, and follow-up care. While insurance will help, the family is facing travel expenses including flights, hotel stays, transportation, meals, and other necessities during their time away from home. In addition to these medical and travel expenses, Zach will be unable to work for a period of time while he recovers from surgery. Lori will also be taking time away from work to care for Zach and support him through his recovery journey. The loss of income during this time will add even more stress to an already overwhelming situation for their family.
Anyone who knows Zach and Lori knows they are the kind of people who are always there for others without hesitation. Right now, they need the support of their community as they face this difficult journey together. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser to support Zach and his family during this challenging time. Thank you for supporting this amazing family during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.
