An online sales channel has the potential to introduce your IGC to new customers or make shopping more convenient for those you already serve.

But with all of the e-commerce options out in the world, how do you figure out where to start? Should you build an online store on your website, go through a third party or use the capabilities of your current POS system?

At the Garden Center Conference & Expo this August in Nashville, our "Getting E-Commerce Right" panelists will address how they found e-commerce success, including the platforms they chose, how and what they sell online, and the obstacles of digital storefronts and how they overcame them.

Our panelists are:
-Donovan C. Baltich, owner, Wellspring Gardens
-Michelle Castaneda, retail operations manager, Van Putte Gardens
-Megan Grimaldi, store manager and purchaser, Moore and Moore Garden Center

Register for the conference at the link below, and make sure you add "Getting E-Commerce Right" to your show schedule!

Curious if those beautiful ornamental banana plants produce edible fruit? The answer is technically yes, but there's a catch. Ornamental varieties often yield less fruit and it can be packed with seeds, though you can eat around them.

Pineapple, strawberry, and banana in one bite? That's soursop, also known as graviola or guanabana. For generations, it's been used for immune support, digestion, and overall wellness. Loaded with Vitamin C and fiber, it's packed with nutrients. The catch? It spoils fast, making fresh soursop rare. You might have to grow it yourself!

WEDNESDAY PLANT DROP: Supreme-sized Traveler's Tree in a 3/4-gallon pot. The Traveler's Tree is hard to get your hands on, but it's worth the trouble because it is a majestic site to behold. Get yours in the link in the comments.

At first glance, you might think a Traveler's Tree is a Bird of Paradise or a Banana, and you aren't too far off; they are cousins with leaf and flower similarities. Traveler's Trees, however, have dramatic leaves that grow in one plane from east to west, rumored to help travelers orient themselves. In fact, the Traveler's Tree (sometimes called a Traveler's Palm) further helps weary wayfarers to quench their thirst because their hollow leaf bases can fill up with up to a quart of water after a good rainstorm. Not sure I would actually drink it though, because it can quickly become stagnant, but hey, sometimes voyagers get desperate on the road.
