2015...the year I go digital. Remember how ADD I am so which does translate into pretty gardens!

TO DO NOW: pull wet mulch and leaves back from the crowns of
Rose bushes and fruit trees
Prune Crepe Myrtle (do not commit Murder)
Plant Large trees and evergreen shrubs
Mow or whack the giant weeds in your lawn before they go to seed
then remove debris. W**d and feed kills trees. do NOT use.

continue to read fantasy novels and watch too much T.V.
I will corner a child this week and have them show me how to add photos to this site.

My first client disbelieved that she could not build a flower garden on a rocky mesa. She had a colorful paradise of flowers and butterflies. She did not listen to the negative people. Thank you Yvonne!

If you have not shaped evergreen shrubs yet, use pruners to gently shape them. NO drastic measures please. Do not give them a "Flat top Haircut"! The plant police will come and cut your hair...kidding. Bevel the front edge of the shrubbery at an angle with the pruners so that light gets to the middle and bottom branches. Pretend you are cutting the corner of a box. Little snips work best. Otherwise you get big holes in the middle. Use a good all purpose fertilizer like Osmocote or an organic compost lightly scratched in around the root zone. Water deeply once and forget about them for Spring and most of Summer. Use you hands or a rake to pull all those dead leaves out first so that water can percolate down onto the roots. Now your plants should green up over the next few weeks and be happy again.

March - Preparing for Spring in Texas
•Continue to plant cool season flowers and vegetables.
•Plant containerized perennials.
•Plant tomatoes.
•Be ready to protect tender plants from late frosts.
•Start fertilizing flower and vegetable beds.
•Snail hunting season starts now.
•Trim back any plants that look ragged, unless they are spring blooming only.
•Chop up oak leaves with your mulching lawn mower and use them for mulch in your beds.
