Donna Almerico of Donna Almerico Design of Elmhurst, IL passed on Feb 7th. She was my dear friend and mentor and taught me the design ropes as both Barbara Cummings and I worked with her at Richard Honquest in the early 70's. Despite my move to CA, she remained central in our life long after that period. She was a beautiful person inside and out who would also listen, laugh, and understand. Her home was published and her firm was well-known for its talented enterprises. Her daughter Lisa joined her in later years until her retirement.

Sorry to hear news about Toby Keith. When Kate Cook Design Consultant and I consulted for Friedmutter Architects 20 yrs ago we worked on a Toby Keith Bar that was to be in a Harrah's in Indiana. It was to be similar to below. What I remember was that every wall was to have a screen embellished with his image. Sadly I see out of the original 19, only two now exist in Oklahoma.

Sorry to hear about Jimmy Buffet. I consulted for Yates Silverman on a Margaritaville Hotel 🫢😲😲😲2008 with fun-themed restaurants such as the 5 o'clock bar below. I traveled to the site as it got to the second story but alas the economy halted it as did my employment. I marveled at Jimmy's merch machine- all those blenders, etc. Got to go to some concerts, etc. What gets me is he was my exact age- But I stopped saying it is 5 o'clock somewhere 33 yrs ago

Today is my firstborn's birthday! She has always been an artist, following in my shoes as a designer working for me occasionally. She designed clever restaurants for others and we even worked for the same company. She now does great 3D renderings on her own (www.katecookdesigns.com) She also is a great Mom and wife!
