Good is not cheap - cheap is not good. We compete against this quality of work every day.
We started to chip off the Saltillo tile for a face-lift and the pad disappeared. They hadn't poured the step/pad, they laid cmu block on the side and thinset over it. Now the owner has to pay to redo the whole pad and the new surface. There's always a reason that the price is so low. What really sucks is that they will make more $/sf to do this at a low price than we do at fair market.
