BASIC LOW/NO COST HOME SECURITY IDEAS BY LEGACY LOCK AND KEY

1.Get to know your neighbors and form a neighborhood watch.
2.Get "Beware of dog" sign and a large dog bowl.
3.Buy Alarm signs and put them on your windows
4.Trim all landscaping around doors and windows (to eliminate hiding space)
5.Make sure deadbolts fully extend into door jamb.
6.Put window clamps on all window tracks.
7.remove short screws on deadbolt strike plates and replace with 3 1\2 inch screws that pe*****te the door frame and go into 2x4 building stud or install high security strike plates.
8.Install quality locks to protect your family and property.
9.Install a door viewer/peep hole and never open the door without checking first.
10.Use your lock between garage and house.
11.Rekey your house locks if you can't remember the last time they were changed or if you can't account for all keys.
12.If you receive a daily newspaper, cancel it if you're going to away for any period of time. Do not announce via social media that you are on vacation.
13.Install automatic, random light timers to give your house a "lived-in" look.
14. If you live in a two story home, do not leave ladders outside and make sure all 2nd floor windows are locked.
15.Get a quality auxiliary lock for your patio sliding door.
16.Use a double cylinder deadbolt to prevent someone from breaking glass near or on the door, reaching in and unlocking the door.(keep an emergency key hidden close by in case of a fire)
