Here is the before and after of my latest project. This was a lovely home that had too many woody plants obscuring the rock facade. Pyramidal spruces are at each end of the front, vertical boxwood columnar shrubs add height, 2 Japanese maples were moved, blue fothergilla and ruby gold barberries add color. There are interesting side gardens rather than the typical rows of hedges. This is a great time to create a beautiful new look in landscaping.

Although a bit later than in years past, Spring will come soon. So, this is the best time to renovate certain woody shrubs that can tend to "overgrow", like burning bush. This should be accomplished before the shrub breaks dormancy. Sometimes this is done to eliminate dead branches or uneven growth, shaping these shrubs nicely and giving them a clean new look.

This is a great time to water those newly planted trees and shrubs. Just remember to disconnect those hoses when you're done.
