We have another beautiful basement finishing project taking shape! Drywall is probably the messiest part of any renovation and keeping your home clean is our priority. With this project, we hung plastic tarps to protect the unfinished area and HVAC system and laid heavy duty plastic sheeting on the floors to help with clean up after the drywall work is completed. It’s a couple hundred dollars in material to do this but that’s cheaper than the thousands of dollars it could be for the homeowner to have their home and HVAC system deep cleaned. When you’re looking to have work done on your home, make sure you’re getting a full service contractor that thinks about all the little things.

We renovated the whole interior of a house for a good customer over the last couple years. He called me up a few days ago and said he was having the brick sill on his front porch rebuilt and they found a bunch of band board wood rot under the door. The brick guys were planning to just put the new brick back in without fixing anything and he was not happy with that at all! He calls me and we got out there ASAP to rebuild the band board and waterproof it as best as possible so it won’t have this issue again. The house is about 30 years old and not an ounce of waterproofing under the door. I’m surprised it lasted this long!

Moral of the story, some contractors are CONtractors and some will take the necessary steps to ensure your house stays in good shape for a long time! Make sure you know which 1 you’re working with!
