🧅🧅 Another transformation in the books.

We installed a new 6-panel fiberglass entry door from The Home Depot , replaced the base trim throughout the home, repaired the walls, and gave every surface the a new durable finish.

But here’s what separates a professional paint job from just putting color on the walls…

Every surface gets the product it was designed for.

✔️ Walls: Sherwin-Williams Emerald for a durable, washable finish.
✔️ Ceilings: Sherwin-Williams Premium Ceiling Paint for a smooth, uniform appearance.
✔️ Trim: Sherwin-Williams ProClassic for a hard, furniture-quality finish.
✔️ Exterior Door: Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel for exceptional durability and weather resistance.

⛔️Quality materials always produce a better finished product.
⛔️Premium coatings aren’t the cheapest, but paint itself is only a small portion of the overall cost of a professional paint job—the majority of the investment is in the labor.
⛔️Since the preparation and application process are the same either way, it makes sense to use products that will perform for years to come.

⚠️Better paint provides superior durability, resists UV fading, stands up to repeated cleaning, and maintains its appearance far longer than lower-grade products.

🇺🇸 Veteran owned and operated. No subcontractors. The person you meet is the person doing the work.

Let’s be honest… this house had become the eyesore of the block. If you lived next door, you probably weren’t thrilled every time you pulled into your driveway.

From the street, it looked like it simply needed a fresh coat of paint. But once we started digging into it, we discovered the real problem.

This 19-year-old builder-grade home had never been properly flashed above the horizontal trim. Instead of shedding water away from the siding like it should, the trim trapped moisture against the house, creating water dams that eventually led to rot.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated case. I see this detail missed on homes throughout our area, and over time it can cause thousands of dollars in damage.

Painting a house is about much more than changing the color.

Before we ever opened a can of paint, we:
✅ Replaced over 125 battens
✅ Removed and replaced rotted trim
✅ Replaced most of the window trim
✅ Installed proper flashing above every horizontal trim board
✅ Caulked every batten and joint to seal the exterior
✅ Repaired the home so it would shed water the way it is supposed to

Only after all of that was complete did we apply Sherwin-Williams Emerald Exterior—my go-to coating for the Pacific Northwest because of its exceptional coverage, color retention, and long-term durability. This isn’t a cheap blow-and-go paint job. It’s a premium paint system installed over a properly repaired exterior.

The homeowners chose a timeless three-color design:
🖤 Black gutters, fascia, soffits, and trim
🤍 White body
💚 Deep green gables

The transformation is dramatic, but what I’m most proud of is what you can’t see. This home is now properly protected from Oregon’s wet climate and is built to last for many years to come.

At Matteson Contracting, we believe in doing things the right way—not the easy way.

“Do It Right the First Time.”

If you’re thinking about painting your home, don’t just hire someone to make it look good for a couple of years. Hire someone who will identify hidden problems, repair them correctly, and leave you with an exterior that’s built to protect your investment.

Another bathroom transformation complete.

This one started as a 70s bathroom with an awkward door into the toilet and shower room but no door into the bathroom. I took out the doorway capped the old door location with a box beam, and installed a door into the bathroom. Replaced the dated vanity, shower, and toilet and installed a new smart bathfan.

The fixtures and trim are KOHLER paces, sourced through The Home Depot and the sink is Kohler Memoirs from Lowe's Home Improvement. The tile is Emilia polished porcelain from Floor & Decor, the teak and black powder coated ADA shower bench AND 18” grab bar came from Aqua Grip, and the glass shower door is the Portman model Delta Faucet, the tiger wood for the vanity top, box beam and shelves came from The Hardwood Centre and coated with minwax oil based polyurethane. I painted the walls with super paint Sherwin-WilliamsWilliams. The 48” shaker vanity Wong's Building Supplyg Supply.

A special thankJK Plumbing and Mechanical LLCical Core ElectricElectric who handled the plumbing and electrical!

The goal was to make the bathroom feel classy, updated, cleaner, more custom, and completely different from what was there before.

Really happy with how this one came together.

Getting close on this bathroom.

Still a few odds and ends left, but it’s starting to come together.

We went with 2’x4’ tile on the floor and walls, custom walnut vanity I built in the shop, and tongue & groove pine on the ceiling to warm it up a bit.

I’ll get better photos once it’s completely finished, but figured I’d share where it’s at.

What do you guys think so far?

Here I’m drilling fixture holes in the countertop slab. Using a RUBI USA hole saw with a water feed from Floor & Decor . hooked up to the Milwaukee Tool drill. The water keeps the bit cool and keeps the cut clean—without it you’ll burn up bits and risk cracking the material. The only bummer was my drill kicked on the first hole and knocked the water container off the slab and it hit the ground and poked a few files in the corner, a little bit of Flex Seal and bazinga it holds pressure again

Everything is taped off and laid out first so the holes land exactly where they need to. No guessing once you start drilling.

This is the kind of stuff that separates a clean install from a problem job later.

More to come on this bathroom once everything’s finished up.

Yeah… I screwed up. Forgot the before pictures on this one. So here’s the befores from Zillow 🤦‍♂️

Just picture a big master bath with a one-piece drop-in tub/shower combo, sheet linoleum floors, and a giant oak cabinet eating up the room. You’ve seen it.

We tore into it.

Customer picked out the tile— Lowe's Home Improvement for the shower, The Home Depot for the floor. I made it all work.

• Ripped out the tub and built a full walk-in shower
• Large format tile walls, pebble floor, matte black KOHLER fixtures, and slate look porcelain floor tile.
• Plumber came in and updated the mixing valve banding an accessible shut off valve.
• Cut that oversized oak cabinet in half to open the room up
• New quartz countertops
• New fixtures and toilet
• Ripped down some of the floor tile to make 5” base trim and capped it with schluter metal from Daltile

Now it’s open, clean, and actually makes sense.

This is the kind of job where the space was always there—it just needed someone to stop treating it like a 1995 builder special.

Still waiting on custom glass, but the customer’s already thrilled.

And yeah… next time I’ll remember the before pictures.

A lot of people think the only way to update a kitchen is to tear it all out.

That’s not true.

If your cabinet boxes are solid and the layout works, painting and refinishing them is one of the smartest ways to transform the space without replacing cabinets and countertops.

On this project we used Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series to achieve a factory-style finish. Proper prep, sanding, cleaning, and spraying is what makes it durable. This isn’t brush-and-roller work — it’s a process.

And you’ve got options.

If you like your current door style, we refinish them.

If you don’t, I can build brand new doors and drawer fronts and still keep your existing cabinet boxes. That gives you a completely different look without a full gut job.

It’s also a good time to:

• Upgrade hardware
• Install soft-close hinges
• Adjust and align everything properly

So it doesn’t just look new — it functions like new.

Cabinet painting starts at $6,000 depending on size and condition.

Big visual impact.
Minimal demolition.
Smart investment if your kitchen bones are good.

If your kitchen feels dated but the layout works, this might be the move.

Client sent a rendering.
We built it.

If you’ve got a photo, a sketch, or a 3D drawing, I can build it in the shop or onsite. Either way.

This one was for a coffee shop. Big wrap-around bar, deep green shaker panels, butcher block tops. Built solid and sprayed with Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series cabinet paint.

Every piece made by hand.
Not a kit. Not particle board junk.

Custom built to fit your space and your needs.

If you’ve got an idea, send it.
