We’re about using our FirstHand experience to help other consumers recover physically, financially & emotionally from home & content damage (loss) of any degree. Most consumers have to accept and deal with a restoration at least once in their lives. No one wants water, fire – smoke, tornado, hurricane, earthquake, storms, etc. damage. We don’t plan for or welcome it with open arms (understatement). We offer our heartfelt empathy to anyone in the midst of a loss and sympathy should a loved one have been hurt or killed from the event. We also offer free tips & more at our site to help consumers restore.
On the night of our event we looked on-line for consumer help and didn’t find the consumer guidance we wanted. So we stressed & stumbled through the complicated mitigation, rebuild, supplement, claim estimate & compensation request processes to full home recovery & content compensation. In fact our home looks better than it did before (and we loved it before). Early on we heard others went through it & their home looked better than before. We thought ‘yea right’ as our doubt & restoration ignorance climbed higher & our home was torn up further around us (they call that mitigation). Then our rebuild was on hold for a short time as I worked with our Insurance & Restoration/Rebuild Companies (RRC) to align on a Reconciled Scope of Work. This was also a very busy time in the US for weather related losses so our Insurance & RRC resources were maxed out. We were lucky to hire an awesome local Restoration/Rebuild Company and have Insurance Adjusters who were professional, patient with me (asking the same panicked questions over & over until the answers sunk in) & responded to reason.
After our recovery we (my husband Chris & I) decided we’d organize our experience & research into tips we’d make available for free on our site ( https://www.firsthandhacdra.com/ ). We’ve also created a digital Restoration Management Toolkit product for sale for those wanting a deeper understanding of how to get from that ‘Oh my God’ moment to the ‘We’re done/back’ moment. The free tips we firmly believe will help readers get an understanding of the tips/steps to take, questions to ask the Insurance & Restoration/Rebuild Companies and learn definitions for a new restoration & claims language that may result in a less stressful & fuller recovery. Our Toolkit & Home Inventory are great for those who haven’t had home/content damage too so they can be prepared. If the tips help anyone through we’re happy and would like to hear about it.
