Cleaning drawer pulls is the easy part, deciding how to finish them can be the challenging part.

Discovering the handle attaches to solid brass, unlike the plate it's attached to, has me considering a clear lacquer, as opposed to paint or other finishes.

Sometimes the hardware will determine how you're going to finish the piece they're going on however, it's usually the other way around.

Pro tip: If you have a bench grinder with a wire wheel and want to get to bare metal, use it!

Repair or replace?

In this case, it would've taken more time to repair what was stained to look like walnut than to replace it with solid walnut.

In addition, squaring the corners of the nosing instead of mitering added some structural integrity.
