Matterpieces

Matterpieces We want to create a future where design and sustainability unite, creating masterpieces of beauty, ethics, and positive transformation.

Matterpieces is more than a product—it’s a conscious movement calling on consumers, institutions, and companies to join At Matterpieces, we’re on a mission to transform the design and architecture industry. We believe in adopting a cyclical approach to space design and recognise the value of repurposing waste. Instead of following the old take-make-discard model, we harvest materials from demolition sites, giving them new purpose and reducing waste.

â€čâ€č Stepping Stone â€șâ€ș
Two textures, one collision.
A functional sculpture born from our collaboration with Akacorleone. We sliced and interlocked two distinct material identities to create a rugged, unexpected form.

This piece was crafted by our master artisan and collaborator, MĂĄrmores Melos, whose exceptional craftsmanship helps transform reclaimed materials into unique and lasting pieces.

We call it a placemat. But it has a habit of ending up everywhere. Kitchen, bathroom, bedside table, wherever your rituals happen, it fits. A conscious choice that works!

Looking for a material that bridges the gap between high-end design and circularity? Nebula Brick is exactly that!
This texture features a refined, light-toned base subtly infused with recycled brick powders and fragments, creating a soft, organic pattern that feels both grounded and modern.

Once you see it, you can‘t unsee it.
A texture isn‘t just what you put on a wall. It‘s what it was before, and what it becomes after.

Circularity isn‘t a concept. It‘s already there, built into every layer of Matterpieces.

Meet our Matterpiece of the Month: Matter Jupiter đŸȘ
A texture that brings together the earthy warmth of brick with the raw, industrial edge of cement and stone. It’s rugged, it’s modern, and it has this incredibly solid feel that grounds any space. The perfect example of how contrasting elements can live together in total harmony.

Not every texture has a story.
Nebula Blue does.

Deep, soothing blue tones with organic veins that move naturally across every surface. It brings that rare balance between stillness and character, the kind of texture that doesn‘t just decorate a space, it completes it 💙 https://tinyurl.com/4f98hfks

Matter is matter, until someone decides what it’s worth.

Sandra Mendes created an incredible setting where that question became impossible to ignore. Vanda Oliveira and LĂlia Felizardo filled it with food that felt just as considered as the materials around it.

What we usually call construction waste became the backdrop for a meal. The textures we work with every day suddenly had a different context, one where people leaned in, touched, tasted, and stayed a little longer than expected.

From construction site to dinner table.

Moments from ‘LEFT BEHIND’.

More than just a product, we believe Matterpieces has an educational role to play. We created this practical workshop at M-ODU because we wanted to move beyond theory and show the reality of material reuse. It was about giving people direct contact with raw materials, allowing them to see and touch the potential of what is often left behind.

Matterpieces was never just about the material.
From the beginning, we believed that creating a material wasn’t enough. Creating awareness around circularity matters just as much. The Next Step is Circular ‘26 was our way of acting on that. A space to bring architects, researchers, designers and curious people together, around the same questions.

Construction is one of the most resource-intensive industries on the planet and one of the slowest to change. What materials we use, how we use them, and what happens when a building reaches the end of its life: these questions don’t get asked enough. This event was an attempt to make that harder to ignore. Not through urgency or alarm, but through presence. Materials you could see, touch and sit with.

What stayed with us wasn’t the programme. It was watching people slow down, pick things up, and start conversations we hadn’t planned for.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made it what it was đŸ–€

We’re finally sharing this.
There’s something that happens when people wander through a space without being told what to think. They stop at unexpected things. Pick stuff up. Talk to strangers who happen to care about the same problems.

The Next Step is Circular ‘26 was built around that. Materials you could see, touch and sit with, and room for the conversations that follow. We didn’t know how many would show up. More did than we expected, and that meant everything.

Thank you to everyone who was part of it.
More to come.
