Before the cold really settles in, here’s a quick Winter-Proof Checklist to help you make sure your home is prepared — and not wasting heat (or money):
👉 Feel for cold drafts
Check around windows, doors, and vents. If you can feel cold air coming in, that means warm air is slipping out.
👉 Look in the attic
Insulation that’s low, damaged, or damp won’t keep your home warm this winter.
👉 Check for cold spots
If some rooms feel chilly while others stay warm, it’s often a sign your insulation needs attention.
👉 Watch your heating bills
A sudden spike could mean your home is losing heat faster than your system can keep up.
👉 Listen to your HVAC or heater
If it’s constantly running but your home still feels cold, poor insulation may be the culprit.
👉 Inspect your windows for moisture
Condensation or frost can signal poor insulation and airflow issues.
👉 Look for ice on your roof
Icicles and ice dams might look nice, but they often mean heat is escaping from your attic.
❄️ If your home checks any of these boxes, winter might hit harder than it needs to.
