This is just sweet. I love painting in multiple layers! The translucent look is so pretty. To paint this, start by using just water to make a single petal. Then add color just to the edges and let it bleed into the water. Add one petal at a time letting each dry first. You will see an amazing effect. Try it!!!

After adding more detail my little coastal scene turned out pretty cute. Very loose painting. I bought the frame first and cut the watercolor paper to size before painting.

Tip: wet on wet technique is when you wet the paper and apply wet paint. That is what I did here. The paints blend and you eliminate harsh lines. I'm finding if I take my time and do several layers of water and really let it soak in the paper you will have lots of time to work without the paper drying too fast. Tape the paper down with washi tape to help keep it from bubbling. This is my first layer. I will wait for it to dry for my second layer. Have fun!!!!
