Tin Sheets to the Wind

Tin Sheets to the Wind An adventurous search and rescue K9 and his people in search of the kitschy and the quirky.

In 2016, we sold our winery, Canyon Wind Cellars, in Western Colorado to follow our dream of traveling the country. Seeking to find the remnants of the time when America's greatest love was the car- Americana, Mid Century Modern architecture, roadside diners, kitschy curio shops, tourist traps- we want to experience it all!

It’s always a good day when we run across a sign we’ve never seen! The Apache Haven Restaurant/Lounge/Motel/Liquor Store once stood in Dulce, NM. All that remains now is a sign and any historical information that may exist remains difficult to find.

From March 17-19, 2003, the Denver area was hit with a blizzard resulting in its second largest snowfall on record (the highest record was set in 1913). Totals ranged from an official 31.8” in Denver to 87.5” in Rollinsville, a tiny town in the foothills west of Denver. Jen was living in Lakewood, a western suburb of Denver, at the time where 3-4 feet of snow fell. Every year when the “Remember the 2003 Blizzard” stories start appearing, we feel compelled to share this photo of Jen and the original lab, Mick.

Many toys have met their demise in our home, but there is one that is never far from Saxby. Together now for nearly five years (a remarkable feat for a Labrador) Saxby and his most favorite yellow chainsaw are looking forward to the upcoming year of adventures and wish everyone a Happy New Year!

We’ve had many different critters in our backyards over the years, but this is a first. And a super cool one!
