Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🍽🦃 our first big holiday in our ADU, cooking up in the kitchen and feeling grateful for all that we have ✨ We’ve been quiet for a bit, taking our time with settling in, setting up shop, and we’re almost ready for a reveal. We love our home 🏡 listening to the birds every morning ✨ having our coffee together, and planning our day - whether it’s unpacking another box or looking for the right piece of furniture online 😂 we get to do it all in our ADU ❤️ the transition has been seamless though we’re not quite finished with setting everything up - still need some seating in the living room (looking for some comfy chairs, any suggestions?) and a writing desk for upstairs 🤗 for now though, we love this view of coming downstairs and seeing that lovely shade of blue peeking out from the powder room - one of my favorite spaces 💙🖤💙 here’s to the weekend and enjoying all the little things ✨

Moving Day 🙏🏻 a long day but so fulfilling ❤️ all of our possessions have been in storage over a year so it’s been a trip unpacking and rediscovering our things ✨ but most of all we were moving into our home - built from scratch - a family effort - and all the energy and time spent - have brought us to this day 🤗

It’s finally happened 🙌🏻 we’ve passed final inspection!!!! 🤗😃🤪 is it too early for happy hour?! 😂 what a process it has been - I feel like I’ve aged ten years in one 🤣 and anyone who’s been through a new build knows what I’m talking about! Movers are scheduled for Friday 👌 and then we can make our ADU our home 🏡 until then we’ll be toasting to finishing this part of our journey tonight 🍻 how fitting to pass on Taco Tuesday? Must be fate ☺️

We’ve been off the grid for a bit and took some time to relax and recharge before we move in 🤗 Since we never took a proper honeymoon we decided to spend a week in La Quinta, California 🌵🌴☀️one of our favorite places to chill 💦 spent the days at our private pool and hot tub, swimming, listening to music, 🍹 poolside and loved this view every night ❤️ now that we’re back in LA, we’re wrapping up the big little things holding us back on inspection - and THAT should be done soon 🙏🏻 can’t wait until we can say we’re all moved in 😂

We didn’t pass final inspection but we only have a few minor corrections 🙏🏻 the crew came out right away to fix what was needed and hopefully we’ll be beck on track for the follow-up inspection this week 🤞🏻 Through this whole process of construction we’ve had our ups and downs and learned a lot about staying in the moment and taking each day as it is - so it’s Tuesday and we’re loving this light from upstairs ✨ one day soon we’ll be here ✨

Yesterday we made the trip to DTLA to visit the LA Sanitation department to clear our storm water regulation 🌨 We brought our ADU plans, photos of our permeable pavers and rain barrels ✅ and completed that last step before final inspection 🙏🏻 if you’re building an ADU in LA one thing to consider early on is the storm water issue - nearly everyone in the waiting room had to show evidence of their rain barrels and it’s likely you may need them as well. Do you have enough groundcover around your property to absorb the runoff? We don’t and though getting them was a hassle we see the long term benefits of having the stored water- less runoff in the alley, and we’re conserving water by making use of what the rain provides ☺️ Cheers to following through and checking off our list 👌 Final inspection on Monday and until then we’re collecting our punch list for our contractor 🤞🏻almost done 🤪

Rain barrels ✅ HVAC ✅ and no fee from Parks and Rec 🙌🏻👌🙏🏻 now all that’s left is our gutters and gearing up for final inspection ✨ after our gutters are connected to the rain barrels we can take photos and visit the Sanitation department to clear the storm water item ✅ each phase of our ADU build came with many moving parts and we’re excited for when they’re all settled and we can live our lives again 🤪 but seriously loving 🥰 our big little cottage - especially the porch our carpenter designed - gives it that special touch that makes it feel like home 🏡
