🇮🇹 Pasta e Piselli — the dish Italian Nonnas have been making forever!
Creamy, cozy, made with just 5 ingredients & ready in under 20 minutes. Pure Italian soul food! 😍

✅ Ingredients:

1 lb (450g) ditalini pasta (or small shells)

16 oz (450g) frozen or fresh peas

1 large onion, finely diced

½ cup extra virgin olive oil

1 cup Pecorino Romano or Parmesan, grated

¼ tsp red pepper flakes

4–5 cups water or chicken broth

Salt & black pepper to taste

Fresh parsley or mint to garnish 🌿

👩‍🍳 Steps:

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat

Sauté onion until soft & translucent (~4 min)

Add garlic & red pepper flakes, stir 1 min

Add peas & water/broth, bring to a boil

Mash a handful of peas with a fork for creaminess 🤤

Add pasta directly to the pot, stir often

Cook until al dente — don't drain! Keep it saucy

Remove from heat, stir in cheese generously

Garnish with parsley & a drizzle of olive oil ✨

🍝 Serve immediately — it thickens as it sits, so eat it fresh & hot!

💡 Tip: Mashing some of the peas creates a naturally creamy sauce with ZERO cream needed! 🙌
