DID YOU KNOW? Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.
Today I salute Paul R Williams, the trailblazing architect that helped shape LA. Here's a piece from NPR compliments of my friend Karen Grisby Bates.

When Paul Williams decided to become an architect, people told him no white clients would work with an African-American. But he persevered, eventually designing thousands of buildings, including the Beverly Hills Hotel and homes for stars like Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball.

Because this is a Christmas unlike any other and after 9 months of no red meat (or dairy for me)...Olivia requested MEAT for dinner!! We prepared garlic and rosemary marinated lamb chops for the grill that were sublime. ( the mint jelly was an homage to my mum) Vegetable lasagna made with zucchini ribbons not pasta (thank you Lark) and a baby kale salad with pomegranate lemon dressing... but the final act: a carmelized apple pie topped with creamy cashew milk vanilla ice cream brought us to our knees! (thanks Lillian!!
