A real Scorpio over here— intense and extremely passionate. I put all of myself into everything I do. The fun part- I love it all!! Really. I make everything I do fun, so it’s sustainable- from running my company and designing beautiful spaces, to planning and throwing my kids’ bday parties, to how I train and show up for volleyball and myself, to managing my kids’ scheduling and our household, to being a pretty cool wife, friend and all of it.

Memorial Day weekend is coming in hot!!! (As soon ad this marine layer burns off…)

So I thought it was the perfect time to round up a few of our favorite pool house designs, from moody black millwork and bold color moments to airy indoor-outdoor spaces made for long summer afternoons.

Ain’t no stranger to it. I come from a blue collard family. My dad’s a drywaller and has been a journeyman in the home building business his whole life, mixed with my mom’s creativity and city engineering background, out came me— a redneck from Arizona, a whole lotta bougie, down to earth, not afraid to roll my sleeves up, while wearing Louie V sneaks or… a competitive, intense athlete that wears bows and sparkles.

You get the idea. You can’t just come up with ideas and not actually find ways to bring them to life, but you can be cute while doing it. 🤠

Home offices that feel comfortable, but elevated. This one is for a finance guy that wanted some personality mixed in with the spreadsheets he stares at!

It’s masculine, modern, just enough relaxed, but overall is a get-sh*t-done space.

Don’t worry- there’s filing cabinets and built in storage like printer, shredder, and more in the closet- basically a hidden built in so the office space can look organized and clutter free! Still a show piece when not in use.

I love designing all over the country, from lake houses and cabins, to homes in Texas, MN, Atalanta, Nashville, Arizona, and more, but our So. Cal homes have a feel to them- 70 and sunny compliments any project.

It is all rainbows and sunshine. I mean, at certain phases! 😉

Even our own clients get decision fatigue and we narrow design and material options down, summarize a few solutions to any problem based on price and integrity of original design, and try to make it as easy to make an informed decision as possible whether picking a tile and grout, light, wallpaper, coffee table or sofa, but the process is long and detailed, if you’re doing it right!!

I don’t know the actual number of decisions that need to be made on a foundation to furniture project or even just a design of the build project or furniture and styling only projects, but the 2,850,792 decisions that need to be made are daily, constant and never ending.

Sooooo for what it’s worth, keep in mind the percentage of error if a mistake or two happens. We are all human! It’ll work out- hopefully just not too expensive for your firm! 😉

That’s why you need to pick your clients, they need to pick you, same with all consultants, and do your best to make it fun! It’s a partnership that requires a lot of teamwork!

Two perspectives… looking out and looking in!!

I love a little Sunroom moment, probably because they’re so rare to include in plans these days. (Atleast in California when you’re trying to maximize space on a limited lot size). But when you’re working with a huge, historical Spanish Style home? You have to appreciate it while you can!!

We really wanted to make this area feel intentional and inviting so it’s not just collecting dust. A space where you can take a beat, watch the view, chat with company, read a book, or just kick your feet up! ☀️

No project is transactional. I put all of myself into everything I do, and treat each home as if it’s my own. Sorry for your budget. 😉😘

But… your home should tell a story and make you feel certain ways, even down to each room! It’s one of my favorite parts of designing- coming up with materials, patterns, colors and details that fit what you desire in each space and bringing it to life.

Imagine the difference between a game room, a media room, a nursery, a music room, to a teenage room? That’s the fun… dreaming it up!

Coming off of Mother’s Day yesterday, I’m feeling especially grateful for the women who somehow do it all. 🤍

The moms balancing careers, families, travel schedules, endless logistics, and still finding a way to show up for the people they love most. Yesterday especially felt like a reminder of that. 😜 It was a busy travel day for the Hance fam… but we made it home in one piece!!

That’s actually part of what made this project feel so meaningful to our team! After designing her daughter’s first condo, we were lucky enough to continue the story when her mom moved just a few doors down. Getting to create a home that felt calm, beautiful, and completely hers was such a special full-circle moment.

This vanity space was designed to feel like a quiet exhale… soft lighting, warm textures, thoughtful details, and a sense of ease woven into the everyday.

Because home SHOULD feel restorative. (Especially for the women who spend so much of their lives taking care of everyone else.)
