One Paseo has been awarded Gold for Best Mixed-Use Project at the 2025 UDAD Awards.

We’re honored and grateful to receive this award alongside our collaborators.

Located in San Diego’s Carmel Valley, One Paseo was a long-anticipated project; one that needed to deliver on the community’s hopes for a dynamic, walkable mixed-use environment.

5+design led the overall master plan and retail design, working in close collaboration with , who designed the office spaces, and Architects, Inc., who led the residential. The result is a highly connected, pedestrian-focused destination that blends lifestyle, work, and living into a cohesive whole.

This accolade underscores One Paseo’s success in creating a cohesive urban environment rooted in the needs of its community.

In partnership with , we’re excited to announce Taikoo Place Beijing, the highly anticipated commercial project formerly known as INDIGO, located in Beijing’s central Chaoyang district.

This marks the debut of Swire’s esteemed “Taikoo Place” brand in mainland China.

Among attendees, 5+design Founding Principal Mike Ellis had the opportunity to see the latest developments firsthand at the Phase II launch and unveiling of Taikoo Place.

The Huaihai Road TOD project is progressing steadily, with scaffolding removed last weekend to reveal a completed double-layer curtain wall and facade lighting.

Located at the intersection of Huaihai Road and Ruijin Road in Shanghai’s Huaihai Road Preservation Zone, the project enhances the urban landscape with a multi-level retail and entertainment complex, featuring a rooftop garden park built atop a transit center.

Recent site visit to Huaihai Road TOD reveals the latest construction progress and facade development.

The project’s form and character draw heavily from the site’s historical community of the once abundant Shanghainese Longtangs.

As such, a tripartite architectural design style, created during Shanghai’s Golden Age of Architecture or the Chinese Renaissance, was applied to organize the building’s facade, paying homage to the site’s historical importance.

Huaihai Road TOD is on track for completion at the end of the year.

Masaterplanned community, Luxi Peninsula, opens in Chongqing. Designed intimately within the forests of Chongqing, Luxi Peninsula creates a cohesive layout for a residential community that promotes exploration and fosters a deep connection to nature, while prioritizing minimal disruption to the forest ecology.

Our team designed both the masterplan and residential architecture to harmonize with the site’s natural beauty, organically following the form, topography, and elevation of the area.

Our small-scale interior design project, Beauty Avenue, has recently opened its doors in Shanghai. The project’s focus was to transform a narrow corridor into a cohesive and inviting space within the larger Plaza 66 shopping mall. To achieve this, the design seamlessly integrates elements such as custom lighting, discreet wall features, and subtle way-finding signage.

These enhancements not only elevate the functionality of the area but also enhance its aesthetic appeal. Catering to the needs of beauty and wellness patrons, the updated space harmoniously complements the overall ambiance of the mall.
