“COEXISTENCE”: This modest 5x5 mural of my recent work is currently on exhibit at the USC School of Architecture in Los Angeles - until March 12. It displays an assortment of design, research and advocacy efforts situated at the intersection of the formal and informal city. My gratitude to the School for this honor and to Supriya Singh for curating the exhibit.

On the boards: A mobility planning study for the historic district of Casco Viejo in Panama. The introduction of water transit relieves vehicular pressure in the district. By limiting the number of cars to permitted vehicles only, existing parking lots are transformed into new plazas and integrated with existing ones creating a new open space structure.

First published article of 2026: A study of Kyoto, highlighting the profound influence of the mountains on the daily and seasonal life of the historic Japanese city. Essentially, this study is an argument to reread our cities as multispecies (not human-centric) ecologies.

Rendering from a study we are doing to enhance the surroundings of the Ise Shrine in Japan. This one shows the redesign of the historic 4 km-long pilgrimage path (today, a vehicular street) between the two shrine precincts. 62 white concrete torii (Shinto gates) symbolize the 62 Ise rebuilding cycles thus far. And over 600 Hinoki (japanese cypress) trees - of which the shrines are made - are planted along the path length literally connecting the forests surrounding the two sacred complexes.

A planning study for the village of Badami, India. The historic Agastya Lake is seen at the top of the image, located at the foot of a red sandstone cliff. At the edge of the existing village towards the bottom of the image, six new “ponds” harvest water, generate a cooling microclimate in the arid terrain, and become the armature for growing the village around them. Forest fingers create an edge between village and agricultural land, marking a growth boundary for conserving the historic settlement.
