Tonight we had a thunderstorm with high winds. I went outside after the rain slowed to check on my animals and lock everyone’s doors. That’s when I saw one of my sweet hens ‘Sunshine Suzy’ huddled up on a stone soaking wet. Under her, were her 2 chicks I assigned to her a few days ago because she was broody. They were completely dry and warm. I am still amazed at the level of care animals instinctively give to their young. Humans can learn a lot from watching animals.
