Downsizing can be difficult, but for many (like myself), cleaning is harder. However, it is the first step that needs to be taken when you decide you're ready to let some stuff go and get a little breathing room in return.
A friend recommended the book I'm currently re-reading (or should I say "re-listening to") when I need a little help cleaning up my home, and it honestly changed the way I looked at my home and myself.
It's called How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis, LPC.
In this book, KC touches on how to clean your home when you are dealing with undiagnosed ADHD, trauma, or anything else that can make this task difficult. She is gentle and forgiving and breaks things down in a way that is easy to understand (and there is no shame involved).
One of my biggest takeaways was this - there are only 5 things to clean.
Now, I've tailored this system to work better for myself and the type of home I live in, but it WORKS.
When I come to your home to help you declutter and organize, if you tell me you're struggling with cleaning/tidying, the 5 Things method is something I would recommend, and I'd gladly show you how it's done.
If you don't feel like listening to the book right now but want to try this method, reach out to me either here in the comments or send me a message and I'll break things down for you. Otherwise, we can go over everything during your first session!
