Look I really built this so I could work in my rehab while playing with the kids!

My rehab is their development

Managing time while working, being a dad, being a husband, rehabbing my Achilles, and developing my social media presence is a lot.

Trying to find time for it all is hard. But a skill I have developed is combining two activities that I love at the same time. Now I am combining physical activity (and my Achilles rehab) with childhood development by spending time doing active things with my kids.

I’m helping them develop a foundation of healthy movement patterns so that they don’t suffer from pain when they’re older.

If you’re dealing with pain and you want to learn how to turn your life with your kids into rehab, DM or comment “COACH” and I’ll help you!

Every dad knows they once had it in bag. But now most have to pick their battles wisely. Recovery from this Achilles tendon repair and subsequent back injury has reminded me how precious our physical health is!

If you are a parent out there and you want to be able to pull from your bag of tricks without worrying about getting hurt, DM or comment “HELP” and let’s talk about it!

This is why I do what I do. 🙌

I was feeling a little frustrated this week and then I got this message. Funny how a little perspective shift changes things…

Anyways. I love helping people get back to their lives without limitation. I’ve been there with my own injuries (a lot of them); I know missing out on life ain’t fun.

If you’re currently limited in life, comment 👇 DM me and let’s talk about getting you back to 100%

Most back and neck pain isn’t a posture problem. It’s often a lack of movement problem.

Here’s a few ways to combat the sitting problem. Plus they are easy to do!

Sitting is the new smoking.

Have you ever considered our bodies are made to move AND made to rest. So Sitting itself isn’t the enemy. Sitting all day is.

Same goes for posture. Sitting in a flexed or slouched position for short periods isn’t bad in and of itself, especially if you’re doing movements to counteract it. It becomes a problem when you stay there for long periods and never work the opposite muscle groups.

One game to help: put a bunch of exercises in a jar, draw one at random every hour, and do 10 reps. Empty the jar by the end of the day.

It’s a dichotomy, two sides of a coin. We can’t live without our phones but we are simultaneously controlled by them.

The key differentiator: do you spend purposeful time without your phone?

And we also have to remember that our kids learn how to emotionally regulate themselves from their parents. Are you setting a good example?

I probably spend too much time on the right, hence the offset. But I’m working to over come that and find the balance with my family, work, and my phone.

I’m trying to teach my kids through real life events. And teach them lifelong lessons. Or at least help them establish a strong foundation to build upon.

But also, I’m trying to lead by example. Today I was a busy parent and didn’t have time to do a workout to myself so I decided to make playing with my kids part of my workout and Achilles rehab. I’ve been kind of slacking on the rehab lately and needed to take it seriously but also didn’t want to miss time with the kids at the end of the summer.

So we had a fun day going for walking and jogging intervals and then playing at the playground!

Follow along to learn how to spin your daily activities and two activities that are helping you grow!

My daughter doesn’t know it yet, but every time she climbs on me, hangs off my arms, or wants “one more” piggyback ride, she’s helping me stay mobile, strong, and pain-free.

That’s the secret most people miss: rehab doesn’t have to look like a gym. It can look like playtime.

I have to roll out of bed and do dad things right away. Sometimes my body says otherwise. So I keep some tools in my pocket so I’m ready with my first steps.

I actually wasn’t ready this morning. My daughter asked me to throw her in the air and I needed to warm up first. But after a few quick exercises I was good to go!

Exercises:
-marches
-double knees to chest
-low trunk rotation
-knees over toes rocking
-kneeling to standing
