I am a graduate of Michigan State University College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. I loved my job and my coworkers and I genuinely cared for them and our patients. Being in the medical field, I was often working 70-80 hours a week. It was causing too much stress for me personally and in my home life so I decided to quit my job. I have 5 wonderful children, a 15 year old son, 10 year old son,
7 year old daughter & 5 year old twin boys! Jordon is my best friend and partner in this crazy, wonderful journey we are on! Some days we have no idea how we do it, but we do! He is my biggest supporter and my kiddos are my biggest motivation! In 2019, my father suffered a fatal heart attack at the young age of only 53. This changed me as a person and I believe is one of the reasons I ultimately decided to quit my job and spend more time with my family. During the first summer I was off work I spent a lot of time around our home working on our landscape. I came to realize I had a passion for it and found peace in gardening and designing. This was also a passion of my fathers that I did not realize I had. One afternoon, my daughter was helping me plant some things and said to me, βThis would be really cool to do for a job mom!β Her and I talked and though she is young, she also has a spark in her that loves planting and growing too. I then decided I wanted to start a business doing this. My idea is to be able to provide for my children and teach them the value of hard work, education, managing money, and be able to work alongside them if this is the direction they chose, and for them to be able to take over the business some day. If not, at the very least I would be able to provide them with a good job through high school and college. I spent the next couple days discussing this idea with my partner, Jordon. I enrolled in classes for the fall of 2022 at Michigan State and loved every minute of everything I learned! I am excited for this next chapter in our lives and look forward to working with the people of West Michigan! I plan to eventually continue my education with MSU beyond Landscape Design and Nursery Management to become a Landscape Architect.
