We contacted on October 5th to get bids on remodeling our kitchen and two bathrooms. We were also getting other bids from other companies, so we overlooked the fact that it took 6 weeks to get a bid from them, but that was the first of many major red flags. 🚩 🚩 🚩
Once we had gathered all of the bids and were trying to make a decision, we had narrowed it down to two companies. One of us, who will remain unmentioned, wanted to use this company and the other was aspiring to be a Zen Warrior and decided to go with the Flow. (I’ll let you draw your own conclusions here, but from here forth, we will refer to them as Spouse One and Spouse Two.)
Spouse One usually is the better judge of character and Spouse Two thought to be a great big mildewing do*****ag. Spouse One signed the contract and Spouse Two signed the estimates for the renovations and the work was soon to begin….or so we thought.
We were approaching the Thanksgiving break and advised to begin packing up our kitchen because MHC was going to begin work “within the next week.” So, we began packing up everything but essentials in the kitchen. It wasn’t until December 8th that they were ready to demo our bathroom with promises to get started on the kitchen “within the next week.” Those weeks turned into MONTHS of mistakes being made, time being wasted, tremendous frustration and money lost.
Posts to follow will be documentation of the shoddy work performed, flimsy excuses made, endless attempts to repairing their inept workmanship and advice on how to avoid turning your world upside down should you ever decide to remodel your home.
