With spring fast approaching I feel the need to clarify what this page is for to avoid confusion and wasted time on your behalf if searching for local nurseries.

Anyone who knows me, knows that my ideas are more ambitious than my actions.

This page was created in hopes of eventually starting a home based business, and reserve the name, with a focus on plants with a neat history or that sparked a memory of something I have read at some point on the same subject.

Rather than delete or deactivate the page, and lose the claimed name, I have decided to keep it but change it to a reference page in the event I eventually move forward with the business idea, and begin promoting the page and business.

I may post occasionally to provide a place to direct people to information on personal sales through marketplace or booth sales at local events, or even just to share something i find interesting.

If you see someone you like please send a message or search marketplace.

Opuntia sp.

Nopales de Guanajuato

This particular clone is a an edible heirloom variety originally imported from Guanajuato Mexico . The pads, or nopales, are palatable and often added to cooked dishes, while the fruits are quite tasty and have a fruit-punch like flavor known as "Prickly Pears"

Red dye used to obtained from a scale insect called cochineal, who feed on the genus and Opuntia was farmed as a host crop until the advent of synthetic dye. The cochineal bug is still used today as a colorant in food and in lipstick (E120 or Natural Red 4).

Angels Trumpets have been a favorite of the Gnostic Gnome from time immemorial.
The large flowers and heavenly scent will leave you in contemplation of the secrets this plant holds.
It has been used historically as an instant remedy to an asthmatic attack via means of smoking up until the invention of the modern inhaler, providing a safer delivery system.
The gnome began saving seed eons (actually 3 decades) ago by selecting those with the most color to the tinted white flowers, and over several generations is able to offer plants that flower with a nice tint of purple along the massive cream colored flowers. They bloom at night with an intoxicating, perfume like scent that drifts with the wind, and evokes a mellow sense of connection with this beauty.

*Datura sp.
Original seed was purchased as D. innoxia but believed to be D. wrightii, however.......much confusion exists among this genus and it's species and this could be D. inoxia (single n) subsp. quinquecuspida, but certainly not D. stromonium, which has much smaller flowers and absent of scent. Not fully trained as a botanist I'll leave this as an unidentified species. If anyone has any insight please comment or send a message

In the Northern Paiute language, ‘Si-Te-Cah’ literally means ‘tule-eaters.’

Legend has it that the red-haired giants came from a distant island by crossing the ocean on rafts built using the fibrous tule plant.

As odd as it may sound, this legend repeats itself all over the Americas, suggesting it might be an incomplete chronicle of a real event that happened long ago.

In Crónicas del Perú, sixteenth-century Spanish conquistador Pedro Cieza de León recorded an ancient Peruvian tale about the origin of the South American giants.

According to legend, they “came by sea in rafts of reeds after the manner of large boats; some of the men were so tall that from the knee down they were as big as the length of an ordinary fair-sized man.”
