💥 Well… that’s going to be expensive!

Just another day at MalmoAcres! Angelia was out mowing with the Exmark zero-turn when she accidentally caught the corner of our septic tank lid. 😬

The damage? A chunk missing from the lid AND a broken middle blade spindle on the mower! 🤦‍♂️

So now we have a septic tank lid to replace and a mower that's officially out of commission until I get some parts to get it fixed. Maybe it's finally time to invest in that robot mower or the new John Deere Zero Turn with Mulch on Demand? Yes, that's a question.... what are your thoughts?

They say acreage living is peaceful and relaxing, and it is... when things aren't breaking! 🤣

🎃🐔 Can chickens REALLY carve a jack-o'-lantern?!

We've seen those viral videos on YouTube and Instagram where chickens supposedly carve their own pumpkins, so naturally, we had to see if the girls at MalmoAcres were up to the challenge!

We gave them a pumpkin and let them work their magic for nearly 2 days. Would we end up with a spooky Halloween masterpiece or just a bunch of well-fed chickens?

Well... let's just say they DEFINITELY love eating pumpkin! 🎃🤣

🎃 100+ Pumpkins, One Amazing Small Town! 🎃

We had a great time checking out last night, an annual Halloween tradition right here in Malmo, Nebraska! 👻

With over 100 creatively carved and glowing pumpkins on display October 30th & 31st, this event brings hundreds (if not thousands!) of people to our little town! Be sure to stop by RK's Bar and Grill too!

It's events like this that make small-town living so special. A big thank you to the Hasenkamp's & everyone who puts in the time and effort to make it happen! 🧡

🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN from MalmoAcres! 👻🎃

We thought we'd take a little trip down memory lane and share some of our favorite Halloween costumes from the past few years!

We have always believed that life is too short to take yourself too seriously. And Halloween is a great excuse to go ALL OUT and have some fun! - Angelia even learned to play the spoons and made moonshine when we dressed as hillbillies last year!)

⚠️ Fair warning: Some of our costumes might be a little on the edgy side. Sorry... NOT sorry!

We're sitting Halloween out this year - with the exception of visiting Malmo Pumpkins last night, but looking back at these pictures has us thinking we need to find one heck of a Halloween party for next year!

From 60 days exploring Alaska to battling mice in the motorhome! 🚍🐭

Today's MalmoAcres project is a little different. We're getting our motorhome ready for winter, checking things over, and dealing with some uninvited furry guests!

We also share a little about our 60-day Alaska RV adventure last summer. RV ownership certainly comes with its share of adventures, even when you're parked! 😂

I have NO idea if this is going to work, but we're giving it a shot! 😂

Our dock at MalmoAcres is stationary, not floating, which means winter ice, strong winds, and fluctuating water levels could potentially bend or damage the structure.

So I'm experimenting with a AP40 aerator/bubbler to see if we can keep enough open water around the dock to protect it throughout the Nebraska winter.

Will this little bubbler be enough? Will the dock survive? Or will this be another lesson learned the hard way? 🤷‍♂️

Like so many things here, it's all one big experiment!
