During this heatwave it is time to rethink zero-energy cooling. Honored to have Dezeen cover the 3D-printed clay partition we developed with Brook Kennedy and Georg Reichard at Virginia Tech - reviving ancient evaporative techniques to reduce temperatures without a watt.

Researchers at Virginia Tech have developed a 3D-printed, evaporative cooling system made of hollow clay columns that can be filled with sand and water.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking about my new book at the annual conference of the Dutch Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (Stichting Hoogbouw). The Netherlands, a country with traditionally low-rise cities, has 200 highrise buildings planned or under construction. The challenge is for the Netherlands to densify while also maintaining high quality of public space for its residents.
