– Front Range Series: Mount Bierstadt 🏔️
We’re launching our 14er Spotlight Series by Range, and first up is Colorado’s most accessible and iconic collection—the Front Range 14ers. Just west of Denver, these peaks are where many of us fall in love with alpine adventure. And there’s no better mountain to begin with than the one that starts it all for so many: Mount Bierstadt (14,060’).
Located in the Mount Evans Wilderness, Bierstadt is one of the most popular 14ers in the state—and for good reason. The standard route from Guanella Pass is only about 7 miles round trip with 2,700 feet of elevation gain, making it perfect for first-timers, sunrise chasers, and seasoned hikers alike. Don’t let the “beginner” label fool you—this trail still dishes out plenty of challenge, especially with early-season snow, summer storms, or the infamous willow swamp.
Bierstadt is named after Albert Bierstadt, the 19th-century painter whose romanticized landscapes helped introduce the American West to the world. One look from the summit and you’ll see why he was inspired—sweeping views of the Sawtooth Ridge, Mount Evans, and the endless rolling front of the Rockies.
Our Mount Bierstadt Summit Coin celebrates this unforgettable peak—the gateway to 14er addiction, and the first of many summits that change how you see the world. Whether this was your first climb or still on your list, this coin belongs in every Colorado mountain collection.
