Lets talk CARPET ON A BUDGET.
Is it even possible? ππ€¦ββοΈ
The answer is ABSOLUTELY, and we found a way to save THOUSANDS on our carpet without sacrificing quality!
After getting multiple estimates from the average flooring comapnies and box stores, the prices ranged from $2500- $4000+ with "0% interest" (hint hint, that 0% makes the carpet 10$ a square foot π)
When your renovating a whole house, you want to invest wisely without putting all of your apples in the same basket right? You want nice carpet but you also want to have a functional kitchen and eat dinner the next day πππ³
So here is what we came to find:
DIY-ing carpet is not as scary as it sounds, (infact at first we were totally against it untill it came to cost or labor.. so glad we chose the labor!)
πWe found that Ollie's bargain outlet sells SHAW carpet remnants, and yes the pet proof, top notch kind we were looking for! AND ALL MATCHING. (These are basically the end of the spool pieces, nothing wrong with them.)
πPrices ranged from 79$ for a 12x12- 170$ for a 12Γ21. (Plus you can get 15% off your first purchase if you sign up for their emails, so time that right!)
πThey also sell padding with and without a moisture barrier (we opted for the moisture barrier). 80$ for 360 sqft.
Now I know your wondering... BUT HOW DO I INSTALL IT!?
π Go to Home depot, and rent a "Super stretcher". It costs 50$ for the day and does most of the labor for you.
πTac strips are inexpensive as well, a box is about 34$ and we have 90% of the box left.
We had very little experience in this, but with YouTube university, anything can be DIYed π
AND, we are thrilled with how it turned out AND the total cost was approximately $700 for 520 square feet of carpet (and we have leftover material we can still use for other projects)
BAM π
