In August of 2024, A&B Tropics officially became a thing. 🩷🌱
A few weeks later, we decided to set up some plants in our front yard as the soft launch of our little “side business.”
I was soooo proud of this setup. 😂 Hot pink poster board? Sign me up.
I didn’t sell a record amount of plants that day. Honestly, I spent more time sitting outside talking to people about plants than I did selling them. But I absolutely fell in love with it.
At the time, I had no idea what that little table in our front yard would turn into.
Two years later, A&B Tropics has become so much more than a side business. We’ve packed and shipped thousands of plants, done countless live shows, traveled for plant shows, made nursery runs across multiple states, built an incredible growing plant community, and met people who have become some of our closest friends.
There have been late nights packing plants, early mornings loading the car, plants taking over basically every available inch of our house 😂, mistakes, lessons, stressful days, AMAZING days, and plenty of moments where we’ve looked at each other and said, “How did this become our life?”
And somehow, this little side business eventually became the business that supports our family.
That part gets me. 🥹
When I look at this picture now, I don’t see a janky little setup with a handwritten poster board sign. I see the very beginning of something I had absolutely no idea would change our lives.
I’m so incredibly proud of what Alex and I have built together, but I’m even more grateful for every single person who has been a part of it.
Whether you bought one plant from us two years ago, shop our lives every week, came to see us at a plant show, shared one of our posts, joined our Rainforest, recommended us to a friend, or simply cheered us on, you helped build A&B Tropics too. 🩷
Two years down, and that little hot pink sign has a whole lot more growing left to do. 🌱
