A client of mine was downsizing and no longer had room for this beautiful Ficus Tree. I held onto it and took care of it until the community center at this tiny home senior community was finished being built, and today it finally found its new home.

Joy Community Medford provides housing and support for abandoned and forgotten seniors who might otherwise be living on the streets. Seeing some of the residents enjoying their community and knowing this tree will continue to be loved made my day.

As I walked around, I noticed a hillside that could use some attention. Some w**d eating and erosion-control plants or ground cover would not only help stabilize the slope, but also give these seniors something beautiful to look at every day.

If you have a heart for seniors and happen to own a w**d eater and feel like declaring war on that hill, I’m pretty sure it would appreciate the attention. 😊 And if you’d rather write a check than wield a w**d eater, I know someone who can do the work.

There are plenty of other ways to help too through plants, supplies, donations, or volunteer time.

I’ve met very few people who wish they had more things. I’ve met a lot who wish they had more time, more freedom, and more experiences.

If you have too much stuff to manage, you probably have too much stuff to enjoy.

I was listening to The Happiness Project recently and came across a list called “Adult Truths.”

Several of them immediately made me think of my clients who feel overwhelmed by their homes, stuck in clutter, or frustrated because they know something needs to change but aren’t sure where to start.

A few that stood out:

• Accept yourself, and expect more from yourself.

• What can be done at any time is often done at no time.

• Perfectionism is driven not by high standards, but by anxiety.

• The days are long, but the years are short.

• You can choose what you do; you can’t choose what you like to do.

• The things we do every day matter more than the things we do once in a while.

• Outer order contributes to inner calm.

I see these truths play out in homes every week.

The people who make progress aren’t the ones who suddenly become motivated. They’re the ones who decide to take one small step, then another, and keep moving forward.

Which one resonates with you the most?

Camping with my dogs and resting, refueling my soul.

There’s something out here that reminds me I don’t have to be rushing around all the time. There isn’t constant noise. I’m not trying to keep up with what everyone else is chasing.

Just fresh air, quiet mornings, and two happy dogs.

I think a lot of us are exhausted from carrying too much mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Peace comes from letting go of the unnecessary.

While my clients and I are sorting through belongings, we’re also sorting through a lifetime of stories and memories.

I get invited into moments most people never hear about. The adventures. The heartbreak. The funny stories. The people they loved. The life they lived before the world started seeing them as “older.”

This work takes patience. Creative direction. It takes listening while still gently keeping things moving forward. It takes making someone feel heard while helping them let go.

This is why I am Rogue Organizer.
