He requested that the perimeter door be keyed to operate with both the first and second floor unit keys, but the apartments to operate only with their respective keys.

Yesterday, we received an urgent call from a client who had hired a disreputable locksmith to gain access to their unit. Despite being informed that only the top bolt was locked, the locksmith drilled out both cylinders, causing significant damage to the lock body and interior components.

After failing to unlock the door, the locksmith collected a payment and departed, leaving the client in a more precarious situation.

We promptly responded to the call, efficiently gaining access and conducting repairs to the mortise lock, door hinges, and deadlock, while also rekeying both cylinders to operate with a single key.

A heat wave is expected in Massachusetts over the next seven days. Help prepare yourself, friends and family during this hot time.

Extreme heat can be dangerous and even life-threatening if precautions are not taken. During prolonged periods of very hot weather, which may include high humidity, the body must work harder to stay cool, increasing the risk of heat-related illness. While anyone can be affected, older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, workers exposed to excessive heat, and people with chronic medical conditions are especially vulnerable. Taking preventive steps—like staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous activity, and seeking cooler environments—can help protect you, and others, during the heat wave.

What to do During Extreme Heat
- Never leave children or pets alone in a closed vehicle. Even with the windows cracked open, interior temperatures can rise almost 20°F within 10 minutes.
- Slow down and avoid strenuous activity.
- Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. Light colors reflect heat and sunlight, and help maintain normal body temperature.
- Drink plenty of water — even if you are not thirsty. Avoid alcoholic beverages and liquids high in sugar or caffeine. If your doctor generally limits the amount of fluid you drink, ask how much you should drink during hot weather.
- Eat well-balanced, light, regular meals.
- Stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun. Do not leave pets outside for extended periods of time.
- If you must be outdoors, limit your outdoor activity to the morning and evening hours. Try to rest often in shady areas so your body temperature will have a chance to recover. Use sunscreen with a high SPF and wear a wide-brimmed hat.
- If you do not have air conditioning, stay on your lowest floor, out of the sun. Avoid using your stove and oven.
- Electric fans may provide comfort, but when the temperature is in the high 90s, fans will not prevent heat-related illness. Taking a cool shower or bath or moving to an air-conditioned place is a much better way to cool off.
- On hot days, more people cool off around bodies of water. Playing in and around water can increase the risk of drowning. Learn how to keep yourself and your children safe in and around water with these Water Safety Tips.
- If there are power outages during warm weather, you may need to take additional precautions or go to a cooling center or emergency shelter to stay cool.
- Know the symptoms of and watch out for heat-related illnesses. Call 9-1-1 to report emergencies.
- Be a good neighbor. Check on family, friends, and neighbors, especially the elderly, those who live alone, those with medical conditions, those who may need additional assistance, and those who may not have air conditioning.

Unfortunately, a before photo was not taken, however our client had non-compliant residential hardware on an entry door and chose to upgrade to a code-compliant exit device on a perimeter door leading to a function hall. An integration company will return to connect it to an access control system.

We were dispatched to replace door closers on a pair of church doors. The original hardware had reached the end of its useful life and was discontinued, making a direct replacement unattainable. Given the existing setup and time limitations, both the customer and we agreed that a standard installation would meet the requirements.

We were commissioned by an access control firm to bring a church's main door hardware up to ADA compliance standards, ensuring seamless integration with an access control system. The upgrade involved replacing the door closer and mechanical push button lever with an electrified vertical rod exit device, complete with lever escutcheon trim and a key override feature, keyed to match the other perimeter doors.

Severe winds in February inflicted substantial damage on the door, tearing off the closer body and breaking the closer arm. Additionally, the hardware was ripped from the door. We were engaged to provide emergency repairs, which included fixing the door hinges, replacing the closer and door hardware, and ensuring they were compatible with the building's master key. Moreover, it was found that the original closer was inadequate for the door's weight and size, leading to an upgrade to hardware with a suitable rating.
