Everything good takes time! The remodel on this amazing home in Cocoa is simply gorgeous! Many talented people were involved and I came aboard in August of this year to finish interior walls for the punch out.

Clients notice things like dedication, attention to detail, and honesty at a reasonable price. So when the contractor in charge of finishing all the trim disappeared, I was called in to finish the job! Which led to the dock, pool deck, and entire exterior of this charming home!

This was the first project of this magnitude for us as a company, which began in August as well. But with a dedicated team, a major holiday, and cold, windy, rainy days, we were still able to pull it off! It’s simply breathtaking!

Tips for maintaining the hardware on your classic and antique pieces!

Old furniture will always be my pick over newer and usually not as well built pieces. There was a different kind of intention with some of the older wooden pieces and you can feel the craftsmanship throughout. The one thing I do with all old pieces when I am keeping the hardware is to clean them.

There are many "tricks" and processes you can go tbrough but I have stuck with the trusted vinegar and boiling water technique because it's chemical free. I do 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar and bring it to a boil. 10 minutes later I pull them all out and wipe them dry with an old cloth. Doesn't always take all of the tarnish away but it is clean and ready for the next go round.

The top pull here was cleaned and them a thin brushing of a copper guilding wax applied to create some depth. Yes, the bottom one looks nice as it is but 100+ years of pushing and pulling from many sets of hands needs to be cleaned. I'm not comfortable selling anything that could be dirty so my choice is to clean the hardware when I keep it. And boy do they look different!

After a week of weather and holiday delays, we are back on track!!! Whoooo!!!

On some side notes:

Never ever ever set your paint pail on a metal roof without having it tied off!!! Thankfully, no one was below me as the bucket slid off the roof and white paint hit the ground!

The best time to work on a metal roof in Florida, is this time of year!
