This self-care series will address the correlation between mental health and clutter and why organization is key to creating spaces you love. The first topic of the Clutter vs. Clarity series with Aligned Chaos Professional Organizing is Bedroom Anxiety.
A cluttered bedroom can interfere with your sleep. Clutter over stimulates your brain, making it difficult to switch into a restful state. This can even affect your sleep quality, which has the unfortunate effect of creating a negative feedback loop from lack of sleep and the clutter problem.
Your bedroom is the last thing you see before you fall asleep and the first thing you see when you awake, make it your sanctuary. Your bedroom should be a place you relax and recharge after a long day. Define the areas in your bedroom and intentionally select furniture to accommodate and establish the purpose of your space.
Bedrooms should contain;
1. Bed
2. Dresser
3. Nightstand
4. Chair/ chaise
•Do not pile clothes, items, papers etc. on flat surfaces like the dresser or bed.
•Designate the nightstand for items used in/during your nightly routine for easy access.
•Make your bed each morning.
